Embarking on a scenic journey through the vastness of the mountains, the long trek from Cangzhou unfolded. A three-hour drive led us to the serene Jixian County, where the navigation guided us seamlessly to our destination.
As we ventured towards Eden Spring Hills, it was imperative to keep a keen eye out for a small turnoff on the right. Overshooting this turn could result in an additional five minutes of driving before one could turn back. Once we ascended the hill, a gravel path awaited, flanked by ample parking spaces. However, we opted to park and embark on a hiking adventure, as the trek uphill promised a more immersive experience.
At the precipice, we found ample evidence of the subtle arrival of spring. This locale, once a natural mine, has been transformed by the Eden Spring Hills Cultural Tourism project into a unique “Mars Coffee Landing Mission.” The Mars camp, originally slated for a 100-day countdown to Earth Day, has been preserved due to the steady stream of interstellar explorers, drawing in countless travelers.
The coffee cups, exuding a cool, raw mineral hue, exuded a cyberpunk aesthetic, yet the coffee itself fell short in terms of value for money. Nearby, tents, tables, and chairs provided a cozy setting, with music playing in the background. Even sitting idly beneath the mines offered a unique perspective, a scenic vista unlike any other.
Many have likened this place to Iceland, Western Sichuan, or Ulanqab in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, but I prefer to believe that it is a solitary Mars, redeemed by the arrival of fellow wanderers. #BeijingTianjinHebeiSurroundingTour #Tianjin #TianjinTravel #COTDCoffeeExploration
