Exploring Yishui Lake: A Day of Adventure and Discovery

Embarking on our journey to Yishui Lake, we opted to stay at a charming homestay adjacent to the Lovers’ Homeland Taihang Water Town, fearing the potential traffic congestion. The evening prior, we inquired about the optimal route from our hospitable host.

Fellow travelers, it is imperative to set out early! By 9 am, we found ourselves already queuing at the pier ticketing office. To avoid the crowds, arriving at 8 am would be the most seamless experience. 🎫 The adult ticket, inclusive of roundtrip boat fare, costs 135 yuan, while seniors over 60 and students taller than 1.2 meters enjoy a discounted rate of 110 yuan. Active military personnel and veterans are exempted from the ticket fee and only need to purchase the boat ticket, priced at 80 yuan for roundtrip.

Please note that Yishui Lake scenic area boasts three piers. 🌟 The Jinpo Pier is the busiest, offering more large boats and a half-hour one-way journey. 🌟 The Jingui Pier is slightly less crowded, with a 20-minute one-way trip. 🌟 Lastly, the Daba Pier, the least populous, features smaller boats and a swift 10-minute journey. However, as the route from the Daba Pier passes through the Lovers’ Homeland Taihang Water Town, there might be traffic congestion on the return trip. We opted for the Jingui Pier and, in case of congestion, parked our vehicle at a nearby homestay restaurant and walked to the pier.

Arriving at the pier around 9 am, we waited for approximately an hour to board the boat. There were instances of queue-cutting, as the queue lacked fencing, with barriers only present near the ticketing area. Once on the boat, we had two routes to choose from: a steeper hiking trail and a gentler walkway. We opted for the hiking trail, which, thankfully, was manageable for both the elderly and children, offering a more relaxed experience compared to Baishi Mountain.

Completing the trail in approximately 1.5 hours, we made sure to capture memorable moments at various Instagrammable spots. 🌟 Boarding the boat back to the pier took another half-hour, with the Jingui Pier distinguished by its blue wristbands and a middle queuing line. The Jinpo Pier tended to have the longest queues. Overall, Yishui Lake offers a more family-friendly experience than Baishi Mountain, and we recommend visiting during weekdays or weekends to avoid the hustle and bustle of holidays.
