Shanghai to Tiantai Mountain: A Journey of Convenience and Serenity

🚄 Journey from Shanghai to Tiantai Mountain: A Mere 2-Hour Ride

We embarked on our journey at 6:30 AM, arriving at our destination at 8:42. Upon arrival, we hailed a taxi, conveniently located at the station exit, and reached our hotel in approximately 10 minutes, avoiding the need for ride-hailing services. The fare was roughly equivalent to that of a ride-hailing service, costing approximately 20 yuan. Upon settling in, we promptly took another taxi to Guoqing Temple, which cost around 17 yuan.

🏨 Lodging: Leitisen Rongyuan Hotel in Tiantai

Located conveniently on the way from the high-speed rail station to Guoqing Temple, Leitisen Rongyuan Hotel offers excellent value for money. With a price tag of just over 300 yuan, the spacious 41-square-meter rooms include breakfast and a complimentary afternoon tea for two.

⛰️ Attractions: Guoqing Temple

Admission: Free 🆓

This ancient temple, boasting a millennium of history, is rumored to have been a royal temple. Its vertical inscribed plaque is particularly photogenic, capturing the essence of Chinese aesthetics. The temple is bustling with activity, and incense is available for purchase at the entrance, priced between ten and twenty yuan. Its fragrant aroma fills the air. Adjacent to the temple, a shallow stream flows, providing a refreshing escape during the spring and summer months.

Tiantai Mountain Waterfall

Admission: 100 yuan per person

Known as the tallest waterfall in China, this man-made wonder is truly impressive. However, it is worth noting that the waterfall closes at 3 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.

🥣 Dining: Xide Cafe and Tuzao Tou

Xide Cafe offers pleasant photo opportunities, but its coffee, priced at 30 yuan for a cup of Americano, is rather average in terms of taste and value. Tuzao Tou, on the other hand, is a must-visit. Be sure to reserve a table on Dianping to avoid waiting. We recommend trying their freshly made Mochi, a delicious treat for those who appreciate the texture of glutinous rice.
