A Magnificent Journey to Jiangxi Wuyuan: A Travelogue

This trip was truly worth it! Every location was a treat! Embarking from Shenzhen to Jiangxi Wuyuan, the seven-hour high-speed rail journey was indeed lengthy, yet the scenic vistas along the way were nothing short of breathtaking.

The second image in this post is my personal itinerary for this trip, albeit with some room for improvement. Hence, fellow travelers, if you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend perusing this detailed schedule for optimal time management.

Since Huangling and Wunvzhou are both accessible from Wuyuan Station, it’s convenient to visit them together. However, the journey between Wangxiangu and Wunvzhou spans over two hours, thus I suggest taking the high-speed train to Shangrao Station first (as it’s only an hour’s ride to Wangxiangu). For the subsequent days, it’s advisable to base your itinerary around Wuyuan Station. If Jingdezhen is on your agenda, taking the train from Wuyuan Station is also convenient, given the proximity of many locations to the station.

My initial destination was Wuyuan, followed by Wangxiangu, which was rather inconvenient to reach. Consequently, I opted for a chartered car service costing 700 yuan for a roundtrip to Wangxiangu. The taxi fare from Wunvzhou to Huangling ranges between 80 to 100 yuan, but if you can find a shared ride, it’s quite cost-effective.

For accommodation near Wuyuan Station, I highly recommend the “Chabobogong” hotel, which offers excellent value for money with a pleasant environment and even provides a pick-up service. Regarding accommodations at Wunvzhou, I purchased a package deal, which I found on Xianyu at a discounted price of 399 yuan (compared to the original price of 699 yuan on Douyin). The accommodation was clean and comfortable, but it’s crucial to inquire about the inclusions in the package and clarify details with the hotel upon check-in.

During my stay in Jingdezhen, I chose a hotel near Jinding Square for its convenient access to places like Taoxichuan and Yuyao. While food prices in tourist areas tend to be higher, I found the pricing in Wangxiangu to be the most reasonable among the three destinations in Wuyuan. There are also numerous food streets offering a variety of snacks. In Jingdezhen, I particularly recommend trying the delicious yellow croaker fish, which is not only appetizing but also generously portioned. There are several renowned restaurants, but the long queues kept me from trying them.
