A Summer Adventure in Xinjiang: A Reflection on Our Journey

Last summer, I embarked on a journey to Xinjiang with my mother and a few others, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience. As it was her first time traveling so far away, comfort and ease were paramount considerations.

Although the idea of a self-drive trip was tempting, I ultimately opted for a group tour due to its convenience. The tour was recommended by a friend who had previously enjoyed a seamless experience with no hidden costs. Our group consisted solely of families, ensuring lively conversations, endless chatter, and countless photo opportunities throughout the journey.

Here are some tips for those planning a trip to Xinjiang:

  • Ensure the travel agency has a local business license and operating permit. Avoid agencies without these credentials. Ensure to sign a contract, ideally an electronic contract issued by the National Tourism Administration.
  • Inquire about the refund policy in case of changes to your plans. Avoid agencies that do not offer refunds within seven days of departure.
  • Opt for smaller groups of 4-6 people for a more intimate and time-efficient experience. Avoid agencies that offer group rides.
  • Ensure payments are made to the company’s official account, which should match the name on the contract.

Our group consisted of six people, including a driver, in a spacious seven-seater business van, ideal for senior citizens. The cost of around 4k per person covered accommodation, transportation, insurance, driver’s fees, entrance fees, breakfast, airport transfers, drone photography, and horse riding. Prices may vary depending on the season, so please use this as a reference.

I hope these tips assist those planning a trip to Xinjiang. May your journey be filled with无缝衔接的欢乐和自由!
