Day 1: Jinwan Square ➡️ Century Clock ➡️ Jiefang Bridge ➡️ Northwest Corner ➡️ Honghuli ➡️ Drum Tower ➡️ Tianjin Eye ⭐️ It is advisable to disembark at Tianjin Station, as the Century Clock, Jinwan Square, and Jiefang Bridge are conveniently located nearby. ⭐️ Arriving in Tianjin at dawn, I managed to explore three attractions while waiting for my next transportation, ultimately heading straight to the Northwest Corner. ⚠️ It is imperative to visit the Northwest Corner early; by six o’clock, the queue for Erjie Fried Cake was already substantial, and the crowd swelled significantly after seven. To avoid the hassle of queuing, one must rise early, perhaps returning to the hotel for a nap after breakfast. ⚠️ Be vigilant with personal belongings; we once lost our IDs, wasting precious time in retrieval. ⚠️ Consume驴打滚and Gaogan promptly after purchase; they tend to turn sour overnight, and Gaogan becomes tough and unpalatable once cooled. My purchase cost 20 yuan per box, but one can find loose items for sale, avoiding waste. ⚠️ Be mindful of the Drum Tower’s opening hours; it was closed by five o’clock in the afternoon during my visit, but it remains open until ten pm after April 1st. ⚠️ The Tianjin Eye, a standard Ferris wheel, offers excellent photographic opportunities. However, avoid paying for photos from street vendors; the quality is often unsatisfactory, and it’s awkward to refuse.
Day 2: Honghuli ➡️ Porcelain House ➡️ Eileen Chang’s Former Residence ➡️ Wudadao ➡️ Xikai Cathedral ⭐️ These attractions are conveniently clustered, allowing for exploration by bicycle. ⭐️ Wudadao, being vast, is best traversed by shared bicycles; although volunteers may advise against cycling due to limited parking, I found it manageable to cycle in and out. ⚠️ Xikai Cathedral is a typical church, indistinct from others; if pressed for time, it may be skipped. ⚠️ Always allocate sufficient time for transportation when exploring attractions, as I learned the hard way when forced to send my luggage back to school without returning to the hotel.
Transportation: ⭐️ Tianjin’s subway system is convenient and efficient, connecting most destinations. ⭐️ Avoid taxis if possible; Tianjin’s traffic can be congested, and the subway often offers a faster option. ⭐️ Shared bicycles are abundantly available and provide a pleasant alternative for exploration. Finally, the warmth and hospitality of Tianjin’s people are truly remarkable. This city, ideal for City Walks, offers a comfortable pace, ensuring a delightful experience for all visitors.
