On a Saturday morning, our journey began from our school, heading towards Jinzhou via Tianjin West. Arriving at Jinzhou South Station precisely at 12 noon, our first destination was the renowned “Jiajia Hu Bing Gan Fan,” where we were treated to a delightful meal. The proprietress was a delightful woman, adding to the charm of our dining experience.
After our satisfying meal, we embarked on a visit to the Mini Potala Palace at Jiuhua Mountain. Departing from Jinzhou Station, we took the public bus, which offered stunning views at a cost of merely 6r. It was a delightful experience, as we momentarily transformed into Tibetan princesses. The photoshoot, costing 150r, exceeded our expectations, albeit taking longer than anticipated. As evening fell, the Mini Potala Palace was illuminated, creating a breathtaking sight. We then returned to our hotel, conveniently located near Jinzhou Station, surrounded by numerous delicious barbecue joints.
Despite the long queue at the highly recommended Lao Bai Qingzhen Barbecue, we opted for Xiaoye Barbecue, which did not disappoint. However, the service could have been more attentive. On Sunday morning, we ventured to Shiqiaozi Early Market, sampling the delicious fare and exploring the diverse offerings. Later, we visited the Liao Shen Campaign Memorial Hall, a must-see attraction, with its panoramic exhibition hall being particularly impressive.
Adjacent to the Memorial Hall were Guta Park, Guangji Temple, and Jinzhou Museum, all worth visiting. As a souvenir, we purchased a pair of Shuangba yogurt to bring back to our school. Our journey concluded as we arrived back at Jinzhou South Station in the afternoon.
Reflecting on our trip, Jinzhou South Station to Jiajia Hu Bing, the Mini Potala Palace at Jiuhua Mountain, Xiaoye Barbecue, Shiqiaozi Early Market, Liao Shen Campaign Memorial Hall, Guta Park, Guangji Temple, Jinzhou Museum, and back to Jinzhou South Station – each destination left a lasting impression. This weekend excursion was ideally suited for a self-drive trip, given the scarcity of shared bicycles and the considerable distance between some attractions. For two college students, the time and cost involved in commuting would have been unfeasible. Hence, we highly recommend a self-drive tour for anyone planning a visit to Jinzhou.
