Spring’s Embrace at Wupen Valley: A Peach Blossom Wonderland

Dear all, imagine the surprise of encountering peach blossoms in early April! The renowned Wupen Valley, aptly nicknamed the “Little Jiuzhaigou of the North,” is now in full bloom. The photos you see are a mix of yesterday’s captures and some from last year. Currently, the valley is open to visitors. If you’re planning a trip during the Qingming Festival, it’s advisable to arrive early as the area may reach capacity later in the day. Here’s a glimpse into this hidden gem, along with practical tips for your visit.

The uniqueness of Wupen Valley lies in the five naturally formed pools that cascade through the valley, earning it its name. Originally discovered by outdoor enthusiasts, it gained wider recognition as a filming location for the drama “Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms.” Little did we know that such a picturesque paradise existed in Tianjin, rivaling even the beauty of Jiuzhaigou. As it remains relatively untouched, it preserves its pristine charm.

🚗Location: Wupen Valley, Lujiayu, Jizhou District, Tianjin

🅿️Parking: Available roadside or at a fee-based parking area further up the road.

  • Drive to the cement road near the closed-off section. Park roadside.
  • Walk uphill for approximately 100 meters until you reach the entrance gate.
  • Follow the stone steps to reach the First Pool. Continue along the path to visit the subsequent pools, culminating at the Highest Pool.

📌Recommended Visit Order:

  • First Pool: Ideal for all ages, offering the largest pool with stunning scenery and clear, emerald-green water. Features a cement platform for seating and resting, though it is currently dry.
  • Second to Fifth Pools: More suitable for younger visitors, requiring a climb up stone, dirt, and mountain paths. The views become increasingly spectacular, particularly at the Third Pool, where natural stone steps await.

💡Practical Tips:

  • Forest fire prevention is in effect. Please do not bring any fire sources into the mountains!
  • In case of strict forest fire prevention measures, alternative scenic spots such as Jinhai Lake or Pinggu may be considered.
  • The surrounding Jizhou University Town offers a lively street of food vendors for a post-hike treat.
  • Wear appropriate footwear such as hiking or non-slip shoes for the mountain trail.
