Many flock to Panshan Mountain, wondering why they would even need to travel south of the Yangtze River. However, to truly appreciate the landscape’s mountainous grandeur and watery serenity, one must wait until June. Now, it is merely a barren and desolate wilderness, hardly worth the visit! The criticisms are numerous: the costs are exorbitant, and yesterday, I read a comment stating, “As a local, I’ve visited once and never again. The Panshan scenic area seems as if it’s never seen money before. The cable cars are divided into two sections, each costing 60 separately for the ascent and descent. It’s the first time I’ve seen such a practice.” It’s indeed true. Moreover, the cable car ride, which is supposedly a half-hour long, now takes mere minutes due to the long queues. Without waiting for at least two hours, one cannot even board the cable car for the festival. Presumably, most people come for the various performances during the festival. Whether we arrived late due to traffic congestion or if it was always this way the next day, the small stage featured odd and eccentric performances.
The traffic congestion was another headache. It began as soon as we exited the highway and took nearly an hour to reach the entrance of the mountain. Another half-hour was spent in traffic jams exiting the parking lot, only to find out that they were charging for parking. While other places offer free parking spaces to attract tourists, here, a vast area was designated for paid parking, resulting in congestion and crowds. The roads were狭窄, making it difficult to move. The entire journey felt like climbing a wild mountain, and by the time we reached Wansong Temple, it was almost three o’clock. It’s hardly worth the long journey to visit, let alone the disappointment it brings.
In conclusion, my visit to Panshan Mountain was far from ideal. The expensive fees, congested cable cars, and traffic jams made the experience less than enjoyable. While the scenery may be breathtaking in June, for now, it’s best to steer clear and seek other destinations.
