For our departure, we opted for the convenient subway system (requiring the download of the Tianjin Metro app or the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intercity Card, otherwise individual tickets must be purchased). The affordability of this mode of transportation was a bonus! Navigating the city was seamless as the attractions in Tianjin are relatively clustered. For longer distances, taxis and the subway were efficient options, while shorter distances could be comfortably covered by walking or cycling, making Tianjin ideal for a leisurely citywalk. It was a delightful surprise to stumble upon lesser-known, serene spots that exuded a unique charm and romance.
In terms of the weather, Tianjin experiences some temperature fluctuations, but evenings remain mild, necessitating only a light jacket. During the daytime, shorts are appropriate, and with the intense sun, it’s advisable to bring along a sun umbrella, hat, and sunglasses. Foodwise, Tianjin cuisine is noteworthy, offering a range of delightful flavors to sample. The city’s specialty snacks are particularly noteworthy and well worth trying.
