Embark on a thrilling one-day adventure in Tianjin! Starting from the bustling Beijing’s Northern Fifth Ring Road, we boarded the 7 am high-speed train and arrived at Tianjin West Station at 8 am. (A crucial tip: if you’re heading to the northwestern corner of the city, make sure to disembark at Tianjin West Station and hop on the Line 1 subway for a brief ride to your destination.)
Upon arrival, we embarked on a culinary journey, sampling the renowned Tianjin-style pancake wrapped with various fillings. The northwestern corner is a haven forηΉθ²ε°ε, offering affordable yet delicious treats.
If you’re planning a one-day itinerary, consider following our footsteps. From the northwestern corner, we hopped on a bus and arrived at the Ancient Cultural Street in just over ten minutes. Satiated from our earlier meal, we stopped by a shop called Earhole to try their famous fried cakes, which were moderately greasy but still enjoyable. The street was lined with various shops selling a diverse array of goods.
After exploring the Ancient Cultural Street, we ventured to the Italian-style Architectural Area, reachable by a short bike ride or walk. This charming district is a photographer’s paradise, offering plenty of picture-perfect spots. Lunchtime arrived, and we found numerous restaurants serving delicious meals.
From the Italian-style district, we took a bus to Zhang Xueliang’s former residence, situated on a street filled with interesting attractions like the Ceramic House and the Five Avenues. Although we found the park within the Five Avenues to be particularly appealing, the area didn’t offer much else in terms of uniqueness. Nonetheless, it’s a pleasant place to stroll around during leisurely moments.
Exiting the Five Avenues, we hopped on our bikes and made our way to the bustling Jin Street, which evoked a sense of being abroad. Its vibrant atmosphere was truly captivating. Nearby, we stumbled upon a street leading to the Tianjin Tower, lined with several restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. We recommend trying these restaurants in the evening for a taste of authentic Tianjin flavors.
According to our guide, following the river upstream would lead us to the Tianjin Eye. As night fell, we leisurely walked along the river, enjoying the scenery and eventually reaching the Century Plaza and the lively Italian-style street at night. Continuing our stroll, we came across the Lion Forest Bridge, although the famous diving spectacle was no longer in sight. Finally, we arrived at the Tianjin Eye, where the beauty of the city at night was truly breathtaking.
Tianjin’s major attractions are conveniently clustered together, making it easy to explore the city in a single day. However, if time permits, staying overnight and enjoying a leisurely breakfast the next morning would be an ideal way to cap off your visit. The following day, you could embark on a trip to Binhai, accessible via the Line 9 subway. From the station, you’ll find transportation options to explore the area, including a boat ride on the sea (albeit at a moderate cost). Although our team’s sea voyage was cut short due to seasickness, the experience was nonetheless enjoyable. Afterward, we warmed up with a hot soup nearby and made our way back home via the Binhai Station, having spent a total of 500 yuan (including overnight accommodation). Tianjin is undoubtedly a worthwhile destination, offering a rich tapestry of experiences and sights.
