The enhancement project of the Jinwei North Second Line, titled “Walking on the Most Beautiful Skyway, Embarking on a Pact with Mountains and Waters”, was launched in May 2023. After a year of construction, the entire project has been successfully completed. On April 26th, the fully upgraded “Most Beautiful Skyway” was officially opened to the public!
Extending a total length of 31 kilometers, the Jinwei North Second Line, also known as the 233 Highway, connects numerous scenic spots such as Limutai, Jiushanding, and Huangyaguan. The route boasts breathtaking scenery and charming landscapes. The completion of this highway has significantly alleviated the traffic pressure in the northern mountainous areas, while also attracting a large number of tourists to capture memorable photos.
The Jinwei North Second Line begins at the Xibang Highway in the south and terminates at the boundary of Hebei Xinglong on the Jinwei Highway in the north. It traverses seven large and medium-sized bridges and one tunnel. Surrounded by lush mountains and forests, the highway snakes along the contours of the mountains, presenting a captivating scenery. This roadway not only strings together over ten scenic spots and more than twenty tourist villages in the northern mountainous areas of Jizhou, but also opens the door to prosperity and income growth for the villagers along the route, effectively bridging the tourism channels between Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.
To enhance the tourism environment across the region and promote the integrated development of transportation and tourism, Jizhou District introduced the Northern Tourism Company in 2023, investing over 40 million yuan to upgrade the environment along the Jinwei North Second Line. From May 1st to June 30th, excluding statutory holidays, every Thursday was designated as a “Benefit the People Day”. During this period, tourists could purchase first-entry tickets to 14 scenic spots in Jizhou District, including Panshan, Huangyaguan Great Wall, Limutai, Dule Temple, Guojia Valley, Jiulong Mountain, Yuangu Qishilin, Chile Scenic Park, Xiaochuan Countryside Park, Beifang Jiangnan, Jiushanding, Shiqui Amusement Park, Qingshanling War Preparedness Cave, and Heiyu Mystic Valley, for only 10 yuan through the original ticketing channels of the scenic spots, with no limit on the number of purchases.
A series of cultural and tourism events were also organized throughout the year, including the “Top 10 Coolest Marathons in the World” – the 21st China Tianjin Huangyaguan Great Wall International Marathon in May, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Jin Motorhome Touring Activity in June, the Second Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Panshan Music, Beer, and Food Festival in July, the Marimba Art Festival in August, the 31st Jizhou Autumn Cultural Tourism Festival Series and Mountain Cross-country Marathon in September, the “Millennium Ancient Charm, Beautiful Jizhou” Drum Tower Light Show in October, the Ninth Panshan Red Leaf Festival in November, and the National Curling League in December. Additionally, the “Joyful Ice and Snow, Warm Jizhou in Winter” series of activities were launched around the ice and snow season.
