Baoding Yishui Lake 🚫❌ My recent encounter with this purportedly scenic locale was nothing short of disappointing. Initially, the journey from downtown Baoding to the scenic spot was fraught with congestion, taking nearly three hours instead of the anticipated one and a half. While the holiday rush was understandable, what followed was a series of frustrating experiences.
Expecting a relatively quiet visit to a lesser-known “4A-level scenic spot,” I was startled to find endless queues and crowds. The mandatory boat ride to access the hiking trails was particularly problematic, as the limited number of boats led to hours-long waits. The lack of even a single restroom on the mountain (aside from one near the descent, which also doubled as a vending point) was inconvenient and puzzling.
However, the most egregious aspect of my visit was the appalling attitude of the staff. Not only were they unfriendly and unhelpful, but their behavior bordered on aggressive. One particular incident involved being forcibly redirected and then pushed back by a staff member when attempting to follow the flow of other visitors. His angry shouts and scowls were truly unnerving, making me feel unsafe and unwelcome.
It is disheartening to see such a lack of professionalism and courtesy, especially in a place touted as a tourist attraction. The newly painted hiking stairs might have provided some photo ops, but they were hardly a consolation for the overall disappointing experience. I would advise anyone considering a visit to Baoding Yishui Lake to proceed with caution and lowered expectations.
If you still wish to visit, perhaps consider a weekday trip, but be mindful that many aspects of the attraction are still in need of improvement. While the natural scenery may be worth a glimpse, it is advisable to temper your hopes for a seamless and enjoyable experience.
