Embarking on a journey from Handan to Baoquan, we set off at the crack of dawn, at 8:00 am. The drive was smooth, with a brief halt at a service area, and we arrived at our destination, the Henan Baoquan Resort Center, at precisely 11:00 am.
Utilizing a trusted navigation system, we easily located the resort. Our tickets, purchased through a group deal on Douyin, granted us access to two scenic spots: Yatianxia and the Grand Canyon. The cost was 180 yuan per person, but with a teacher’s certificate, the price was reduced to 119 yuan. Seniors under 60 years old enjoyed free entry. The ticket also included transportation within the resort via scenic buses.
First, we ventured to Yatianxia, spending approximately four hours exploring its wonders. The majority of our time was spent hiking, surrounded by breathtaking lake views. The area offered a range of thrilling activities, including rock climbing, roller coasters, bungee jumping, and sky swings. For those seeking a challenge, this place was truly exceptional. Additionally, we discovered the Cloud Glass Skywalk, unaware that it was a filming location for the reality show “Youth Travel Diary.”
Following our exploration at Yatianxia, we proceeded to the Grand Canyon, spending approximately three hours there. Although not as mountainous as Yatianxia, the Grand Canyon offered a different kind of beauty, mostly consisting of gentle paths and stairs. A highlight was a scenic waterfall, which required a 30-minute roundtrip walk. During our visit, some areas were still under construction, but the numerous entertainment options, including boats, jet skis, and rowing boats, made up for it. The tulip flower field was a must-see, with the blossoms in full bloom.
Throughout our visit, we found that the resort offered various food options, eliminating any concerns about hunger. The restrooms were particularly noteworthy, as they were exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The water at Baoquan was incredibly clear, making it an ideal destination for photos. We recommend visiting on a sunny day to capture the beauty of every corner. Although the hiking was physically demanding, the scenic views made it all worthwhile.
We exited the resort at around 6:00 pm and arrived back in Handan at 9:00 pm.
