I strongly recommend all sisters visiting Datong to embark on a photoshoot session in the ancient city, adorned in the captivating robes of the Warring States era! These robes exude a charm reminiscent of the Wei and Jin dynasties, and Datong, as the ancient capital of the Northern Wei dynasty, serves as a perfect backdrop for such a photoshoot. Pair it with a battle-worn makeup and capture the magic of the sunset – the atmosphere will be nothing short of breathtaking!
Here are a few tips to help you plan your photoshoot:
Location: Datong Ancient City (specifically, the Shanhai Photography Studio). The shooting locations are conveniently located nearby the studio. The rooftop, decorated by the studio itself, offers stunning views and is particularly suitable for capturing memorable photos.
Timing: Arrive at the studio around 3 pm, and after getting ready with makeup and hairstyle, you can start shooting around 5-6 pm (perfect for capturing the sunset!). This time of the day is highly recommended as it coincides with the sunset, adding an extra layer of romance to your photos.
Attire: The floor-length robes of the Warring States era are truly stunning (make sure to choose the floor-length version!). While there are other color options available, I particularly loved this set.
Makeup: It’s advisable to communicate with the makeup artist and opt for a non-battle-worn look for the initial photos. Afterward, you can return to the studio for a battle-worn makeover and capture a completely different vibe. (I didn’t initially plan for the battle-worn look, but the photographer suggested it after shooting the first set, and it turned out great!)
Photography: The photographer, with his impressive leg length and charming personality, is highly skilled at guiding you through poses. Even if you’re not confident about posing, you’ll feel at ease under his direction.
Editing: While the studio provides fully edited photos, I personally prefer to edit my photos myself. Therefore, my expectations for editing services are relatively modest.
