Embarking on a journey to the悬空寺 on the first day of the May Day holiday, I departed from Ying County at approximately 7:50 am, driving towards my destination. Upon arriving at the Visitor Center, I parked my car and boarded a shuttle bus bound for the monastery, with a roundtrip fare of 20 yuan per person. Arriving at the悬空寺 at 9:07, I found myself in a queue that stretched for an hour before I could ascend the monastery. While the queuing time was manageable, and the crowd not overly dense, I confess that my acrophobia was somewhat testing my resolve. Nevertheless, I persevered, and the brevity of the journey made it all worthwhile.
The 悬空寺, indeed, was a worthy ascent, offering vistas that captured my heart in photographs. Contrasting sharply with the chill of the preceding days, the weather today was delightful, with a warm and inviting sun. This brief yet enriching excursion to Shanxi’s 悬空寺, a testament to the beauty and tranquility of temples, served as a wonderful kickoff to my May Day holiday.
