Camping Diary in the Beautiful Morigen River of Hulunbeir

Preface: Recently, a few individuals garnered public attention for trespassing and misbehaving on a herdsman’s pasture without permission, ultimately apologizing publicly. Ironically, the campsite we chose for our stay was the same one owned by this herdsman. During our two-night stay, the owner continuously discouraged visitors from driving onto the grass without authorization. His impatience, I believe, stemmed from a justifiable sense of helplessness.

Hello, I’m Huluma, and this summer, I embarked on a journey to Inner Mongolia with my little one, camping three times along the way: at the Ulanhada volcanic crater, in the Alshan National Forest Park, and finally by the Morigen River in Hulunbeir. Today, I’d like to share with you my camping diary at the Morigen River.

The Morigen River campsite, nestled in the heart of Inner Mongolia, offers breathtaking scenery. With an expansive view and proximity to the river, it’s an ideal spot for nature lovers. The natural landscape is simply stunning, and the surrounding darkness at night creates a perfect canvas for capturing the beauty of the Milky Way and starry sky. After scouting the area for miles, I can confidently say that this herdsman’s pasture offers the most captivating vistas.

Regarding fees, the campsite offers various options. For those who bring their own equipment, a tent costs 100 yuan per night. Since we stayed for three days and two nights, the total fee was 400 yuan. Additionally, the owner provides a kitchen where you can pre-order grilled meats and other dishes. However, please note that there are no public toilets or running water facilities on-site.

A few tips for your camping experience: First, bring insect repellent, especially if you plan to cook outdoors. The mosquitoes and flies can be quite pesky, especially when the wind stops. Second, make sure to finish your meals, clean up, and shower before sunset. Trust me, you don’t want to experience the unique sensation of moths flying towards your face after washing up. Third, sun protection is crucial. Don’t forget to bring a sunshade, hat, and other protective gear. Lastly, stock up on supplies, especially drinking water, as there are no nearby amenities.

Lastly, a gentle reminder: Please be mindful of the environment and respect the locals. Do not drive onto the grass without permission, and follow the existing tracks when accessing the pasture. Avoid littering, as such behavior is neither welcome nor allowed. Remember, every inch of this land is sacred, and we should treat it with care and respect.
