Embarking on a journey from Xi’an to the vast grasslands, one can now relish the scenic beauty of the steppes at an affordable price of just 135.5. Recently, I’ve been captivated by the numerous photographs of the serene landscapes, and thus, I’ve compiled a travel guide to Hohhot, a city situated in the heart of Inner Mongolia.
Inner Mongolia is geographically divided into two regions: East Mongolia and West Mongolia. However, when we speak of the vast grasslands, we often refer to East Mongolia. Among the various transportation options, I highly recommend the following route:
Departing from Xi’an Station at 20:08 in the evening, the train arrives in Hohhot the next morning at 8:08, offering a comfortable journey of approximately 12 hours. For those preferring a harder seat, the fare is a mere 135.5, while a hard sleeper berth costs 232.5.
Alternatively, one can opt for the high-speed train, departing from Xi’an North Station at 22:45 and arriving in Hohhot the following morning at 7:11, with a total travel time of approximately 8 hours and 26 minutes. The fare for a second-class seat is 254.
For those preferring to fly, airfare ranges from approximately 500 to over 1000, depending on various factors. I’ve attached relevant images for further reference.
Please note that the climate in Inner Mongolia can be quite arid, hence it is advisable to take adequate sun protection measures.
This travel guide serves as a mere reference, and travelers are encouraged to plan their itineraries accordingly.
