A Solo Journey to Huangshan: A Memoir of Two Days and One Night

Embarking on a two-day, one-night adventure, my cumulative expenditure amounted to a modest 4️⃣3️⃣0️⃣r. Let me break down the expenses for you.

Accommodation: 100r (during peak season, it may surge to 300-500r). Alternatively, you can opt for a budget hostel, ranging from 70-200r.

Transportation: A sum of 68r, comprising 30r for shared rides, 19r for another segment, and another 19r. (Note: You can also opt for a bus.)

Entrance Fees & Cable Car: 185r, inclusive of the student ticket and the Yuping Cable Car ride.

Dining: A total of 77r, consisting of various meals and snacks.

Day 1: A spend of 165r, encompassing transportation from Huangshan North Station to Tangkou Town, a delightful meal at a local restaurant, and a cozy night at Jiahao Yayu Hotel.

Day 2: An expenditure of 265r, covering various transportation costs, entrance fees, and meals. My itinerary was充实, traversing from Tangkou Town to the scenic spots of Huangshan, including Yingkesong, Lianhuafeng, Baibuyunti, Aoyufeng, Guangmingding, Feilaishi, Paiyunting, Danxiafeng, Shizifeng, Houziguanhai, Mengbishenghua, Shixinfeng, Baieling, and finally descending the mountain to Yungu Temple.

A special mention for the Huangzhou Shuttle Bus, a convenient mode of transportation, costing 38r for a round trip. And, the meal at Huizhou Nongjia Canguan was a culinary delight, offering authentic Huizhou flavors.

A piece of advice from my travel diary: at 19, I embarked on a solo journey of discovery, traversing 15 provinces, 30 cities, and 18 mountains. The total cost? A mere 16,500r. Solo travel offers a profound sense of freedom. Nature, indeed, is a balm for the soul. As the saying goes, ‘After seeing the Five Great Mountains, one no longer admires mere hills; after visiting Huangshan, one no longer marvels at the Five Great Mountains.’ The five wonders of Huangshan – the奇特的 pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds, hot springs, and winter snow – are truly captivating.

Xu Xiake’s words ring true. Solo travel is an exercise in observation and reflection. The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page. Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. Stay tuned for my next travelogue.
