Sisters Heading to Nanchang for May Day and Dragon Boat Festival! Avoid the Traps with This Comprehensive Guide!
Just returned from a trip to Nanchang with my girlfriends, and we encountered quite a few pitfalls. Hoping this guide will be helpful for your upcoming adventure!
Accommodation: Opt for areas near Bayi Museum, Tengwang Pavilion, Qiushui Square, or Honggutan Business District, all equipped with convenient subway stations. If budget allows, indulge in a riverside room overlooking Tengwang Pavilion, capturing the breathtaking scenery of “sunset and lonely wild goose flying together, autumn waters merging with the vast sky.”
Food:
🔸Tanqin Dry Pot (Dashun Alley) – A personal favorite! Visited numerous times, delicious every time! Must-try in Baisheng Dashungang.
🔸Shifu Barbecue (Hama Street) – The king of night market snacks. Must-order their fiery beef and large squid skewers! Perfect for a night of drinking and snacking.
🔸Weipai Rolled Skin – Right outside Weizhong Station, opposite Honggutan Wanda! Worth a try!
🔸Niuzongdian – In Dashungang, enjoy fresh-cut beef for only 50 yuan per person! The hanging dragon beef is tender and juicy.
🔸Xu Jun Soup Shop (Donghu District) – Open till late, recommend trying their Tianma Whole Pigeon Meat Pie Soup.
Pitfall Avoidance:
🔵Wanshou Palace: During holidays, Wanshou Palace and Zhujie Street are extremely crowded. Wanshou Palace is filled with Instagrammable spots, while Zhujie Street offers a plethora of delicious snacks.
🔵Tengwang Pavilion: Open from 8:00-18:00, entry stops at 7:15. The immersive performance “Searching for Dreams at Tengwang Pavilion” runs from 18:50-20:00.
🔵Shengjin Tower: Imbued with ancient charm, its lighting gives a sense of the bustling nightlife of the Tang Dynasty.
🔵Twin Towers: Take the 303 observation deck, but photos at the entrance suffice.
🔵Yuweizhou: Connected to Aixi Lake, offering scenic views.
🔵Qiushui Square: Enjoy a fountain show每晚19:00-20:00.
🔵Jiangxi Provincial Museum: Pre-booking required, entry stops at 16:00. Expect to spend three hours exploring its fascinating exhibits.
🔵Nanchang Star Ferris Wheel: Open from 9:00-22:00, full ride takes half an hour, entry stops at 21:00.
